The European Space Agency’s Mars Express spacecraft (which is currently orbiting Mars) has captured a series of images showing the Martian moon Phobos passing underneath Jupiter. At the moment when Phobos appeared directly under Jupiter, there was a distance of 11,389 km between the spacecraft and Phobos. Jupiter was 529 million kilometers further away.
A total of 104 images were captured. These were used to create an animation. The animation and further information can be found here on the European Space Agency website.
