ESA spacecraft views partial solar eclipse from space

ESA has released images taken by its Proba-2 microsatellite of yesterday’s Total Solar Eclipse taken from space. Proba-2’s orbit didn’t take it directly across the path of the Total Eclipse phase so the spacecraft only got to image the eclipse as a partial one. That said, the pictures are still spectacular and worth finding a few minutes to look at.

Proba-2 imaging the Sun during the solar eclipse on 11 July 2010. Experienced as a total eclipse across parts of the Pacific, Proba-2's orbit kept it outside the path of totality. The eclipse lasted through four Proba-2 orbits. Credits: ESA/ROB
