I am looking for 9 teachers interesting in taking part in a free online Australian Curriculum (Science) workshop titled ‘Exploring my Universe Collecting data first hand in 2016’. I am running the workshop to see how practical it is to offer Australia wide training using Google Hangout as the communication method.
The 1.5 hour workshop will cover:
- Curriculum links: Australian Curriculum (Science) Years 1, 3, 5, and 7
- 5 Es Teaching and Learning Model
- Piagetian Levels of Development
- Education resources available on Nightskyonline.info
- Collecting data from predictable 2016 astronomical events
- 9 March 2016 partial solar eclipse
- Moon phases
- The Sun’s path in the sky
- 2016 Mars opposition and retrograde motion
- Planets visible in the evening sky
- Microobservatory.org free robotic telescope imaging
Participants in this workshop will be able to claim 1.5 hours of self identified professional development towards their 2016 professional training requirements. A certificate of participation will be emailed to participants after the completion of the workshop. Unfortunately Google Hangout only supports ten participants so I am only able to accept nine people for this initial workshop.
The workshop will be presented on Saturday 27 February 2016 at 1 pm AEST, 2 pm AEDT, 11 am AWST or 12.30 ACST.
The workshop notes and a link to the registration form can be found on this site here.
