Moon and Venus meet in the morning sky (1 March 2011)

If you are an early riser, have a look above the Eastern horizon for the cresent Moon and Venus on 1 March 2011. Venus will appear as a bright star to the unaided eye below and to the right of the Moon.

You may also want to challenge yourself to see how long into the daytime you are able to follow Venus. It is the one planet which can be easily seen with the unaided eye in the daytime at certain times of the year if you know where to look. Having the Moon near Venus will act as a sort of signpost to remind you where to look as the sky gets brighter.
