Queensland amateur astronomer discovers supernova

On the night of May 22-23, 2010 Brisbane amateur astronomer Brendan Downs discovered a supernova in the galaxy IC 4854. The discovery image of SN 2010dc was taken from Brendan’s backyard observatory ‘Thunderchild’. This is Brendan Down’s second supernova discovery. The first was in 1997.
