If you are out tomorrow night (New Year’s Eve 2014) watching the fireworks explode overhead, don’t forget to let your eyes focus on the stars. Most likely, your eyes will be drawn anyway to the one super bright star above the Northern horizon. That star is really the planet Jupiter only five days away from closest approach to the Earth.

And for those who like trivia, Jupiter is so large you could fit 1,300 Earth’s inside it.
