Like many other people around the world, I was watching as NASA TV covered the successful landing by the Curiosity rover inside Gale crater. And like many other people, I didn’t believe that such a complicated landing procedure could work. Wow! This may be only the start of Curiosity’s mission to explore Mars but what a start!
The above image is one of the first of what hopefully will be many returned from the interior of the 154 kilometer Gale crater. Go here for more information about the photo. Stay tuned to NASA TV over the next week as the main imaging mast is extended and the first colour pictures are send back to Eart.
