Hi,
We were looking at the beautiful night sky tonight (26th March 2012) and found the crescent (situated between Venus and Jupiter)slowly and completely disappear between 8.10 and 8.22 pm. It then slowly re-appeared, in what seemed like a total eclipse. There definitely didn’t seem to be any clouds. Could you possibly explain what could have happened?

There definitely wasn’t a lunar eclipse tonight, so I can’t suggest anything off hand.
