Moon passes Venus 23 – 26 April 2012

The dynamic nature of our solar system can be demonstrated easily by watching the Moon orbit the Earth. Glance up at the Moon just once won’t let you achieve this though. Watch the Moon over a few nights and you will see how it moves in relationship to everything else. Why not do this as the Moon passes Venus over the next few nights. Use the below finder chart and look above the North Western horizon. Venus is the brightest ‘star’.

Venus and Moon finder chart for 23 - 26 April 2012. Chart prepared for 6.15 pm AEST.

The finder chart is prepared for Brisbane for (6.15pm AEST 23 – 26 April 2012) but will be useful for elsewhere across Eastern Australia (Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne). Note that the size of the Moon has been enlarged four times so that the Moon’s appearance is more obvious. Chart produced using the freeware Stellarium.
