Saturn, Spica and the Moon make a temporary triangle in the sky tonight

Step outside tonight anytime after the end of evening twilight to spot a  temporary triangle formed by Saturn, Spica and the Moon in the sky (above the Eastern horizon).

Chart prepared for Brisbane (South East Queensland, Australia) for 8pm AEST tonight (7 April 2012). The chart will also be useful for observers in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne. Chart prepared using the highly recommended Ipad app Sky Safari Pro.

With Saturn only being 9 days away from its closest approach to the Earth for the year, now is the time to familiarize yourself with its location. Even a small telescope will show it’s amazing ring system.
