NACAA XXV – Call for presentations, workshop suggestions and papers

(Text from email)

The National Australian Convention of Amateur Astronomers will celebrate its 25th event in Brisbane over the Easter weekend, 6th – 9th of April 2012 and will be hosted by the Astronomical Association of Queensland, with able assistance from the neighbouring astronomical societies.

NACAA 2012 will be held in the luxurious and well equipped lecture theatres of the Parnell Building of the University of Queensland, located at the heart of the Great Court of this historic university. The event will showcase the finest endeavours in Australian amateur astronomy.

On the opening Friday we will host the inaugural Variable Star South Symposium and various workshops. Saturday and Sunday will have within the region of 40 presentations, covering all aspects of astronomy in Australia today – from science to star gazing. On the final Monday, the event will close with workshops and the 6th Trans-Tasman Symposium on Occultations. Throughout the weekend there will be dinners and social events in the evenings, as well as the traditional award ceremonies.

To be part of this great event, the Programme Committee are inviting you to make a direct contribution in the form of posters, oral presentations of 30 mins duration, round-table meetings and workshops. So please consider contributing, and if you wish, contact me directly to talk over your ideas.

For more information, go to the NACAA website (http://www.nacaa.org.au/2012/progcommittee) on the types of presentations and our requirements for submissions.

The closing date for submissions is Friday, 9th December, 2011.

Jonathan Bradshaw

Programme Committee Chair NACAA XXV, President AAQ.
