Moon and Jupiter close. Look low above the Eastern horizon. Jupiter is the bright star to the right of the Moon. The below finder chart is for 7 pm AEST. Binoculars or a small telescope will show (resolve) Jupiter’s largest moons. These are known as the Galilean moons after their discoverer Galileo Galilei. They will appear as small stars in a line next to Jupiter.

Moon located above Saturn. Look low above the Eastern horizon around 9 pm. Saturn is the pale yellow star below and to the right of the Moon. Even a small telescope will show (resolve) the the rings of Saturn.

The International Space Station will make a bright pass over Canberra in the morning twilight sky. It will appear as a bright star to the unaided eye moving from the North West to the South East horizon. The Space Station will pass between the Moon and Saturn at 6.33 am AEST.
