(Posted 28 January 2017) If you are an early riser living on the Gold Coast (Queensland), you might like to look for the International Space Station over the period 30 January – 6 February 2017. To the unaided eye, the Space Station will look like a slowly moving star passing overhead.

The International Space Station passes over Canberra on 14 November 2011 (the faint long line). The line of dots are the lines of a passing plane. (c) Paul Floyd 2011.

The highly recommended website HeavensAbove.com has further information and finder charts for the period 30 January – 6 February 2017. Just remember that the charts are to be designed to be held over your head. Otherwise East and West won’t be orientated correctly.
